About Me: I was a zookeeper at Durrell for 10 years with a particular interest in Andean bears. Before that I was a scuba diver at the New England Aquarium in Boston, working with sharks, sea turtles, baby seals and penguins, etc. My degree is in Maths, not conservation. Go figure. Life is full of twists and turns. I have spent much of the last 20 years volunteering…at schools, with wildlife causes, JSPCA and now in my fourth year with the CCLTC committee.

My oldest son, Luke, is a swimmer. I qualified as a science teacher nearly 20 years ago and have taught at 3 different secondary schools in the Island. I am currently taking a break from teaching to pursue my own interests as well as supporting my 2 sons. I enjoy swimming and swim twice a week. I am also looking forward to getting back into the sea when the weather improves.

Julie Gafoor
Committee Role: Safeguarding
Day Job: Nurse, Health Visitor & Manager (Retired)
First Tennis Club: 22 years at CCLTC!
Favourite Tennis Player: Roger Federer
About Me: I have two children and two grandchildren and until five years ago I worked in safeguarding as a nurse, health visitor and manager. I have directly supported families through the safeguarding process and supervised staff in both adult and children's services. I believe that safeguarding children and adults is everyone’s responsibility. But I will provide the policies and advice on how best to ensure that children and adults at the club are protected from all types of abuse. If you have any concerns please contact me to discuss confidentially what actions need to be taken.
