We Are Tennis Programme

We Are Tennis is a training initiative which provides professional tennis coaching for circa 800 children from 32 schools and takes place over an 8-week period.

 

Run by our coaches and funded by BNP Paribas it is a programme that provides 6 hours of tennis coaching for all Year 3 children in every Parish school. That’s circa 800 children per annum receiving coaching, and now into its 13th year (2024) over 7,400 children have benefited from tennis coaching. Teachers also benefit from being taught by the LTA coaches in how to teach tennis in school PE lessons. The children and teachers learn important disciplines around sporting conduct and playing by rules, as well as understanding the many tennis shots and serving positions, whilst having fun at school.

At the end of each Summer, every school selects a team of 4 children to represent their class, they then get to play in the ‘We Are Tennis Primary Schools’ tournament against the other Parish schools, in a bid to win the ‘We Are Tennis’ Schools trophy!
