BNP Paribas Caesarean Grade 3 Open and Junior Easter Tournament Report
Following a breezy start to tournament week, and some adventurous ferry crossings, this year’s Easter Tournament was blessed with copious sunshine and fantastic tennis.
We welcomed 148 entrants (75 from the UK) across 256 entries and 33 draws. Players completed: 275 matches, 547 sets and 3914 games and used 336 balls! The total play lasted 15,884 minutes with the longest match being 3hrs 17 minutes.
We are always grateful for our UK players who make the effort to come our little island.
The men’s and women’s open finals proved a fitting finale to the tournament with two hard-fought competitive matches played in front of an appreciative audience. Scott Weaver and Sarah Jones prevailed to give the Caesarean Tennis Club a clean sweep for the open singles competitions.
The standard of play amongst the junior categories was equally impressive, with many youngsters taking part in multiple draws!
The tournament was professionally refereed once again by Donna Budd and assisted by court supervisor Graham Budd who worked tirelessly to ensure the tournament schedule ran efficiently and on time. These events are not possible without the support of volunteers. Thanks to all club members who donated their time and effort to make the event a great success, including Sue Holland, the cake bakers and helping with the bar and club setup.
A special mention must go to Karen Clark for her tireless efforts to ensure the club was ready each day, being at the club or on-hand 24/7, welcoming players, parents and officials, liaising with staff and even trying her hand at emergency plumbing! Thanks Karen!!
We are extremely grateful for the continued support of BNP Paribas and we’re pleased to have Marnus Marais on hand to present trophies to winners and runners up.
We now look forward to the summer tournament (30th July to 4th August) on our new artificial clay courts. Entries open from 14th June via the LTA.
