Reorganisation at the bar
Although a number of members are already aware of changes soon to be made regarding the Bar, we wish to advise all our members of those changes. The agreement between the Club and Compadres Ltd, the takeaway business run by Goncalao, is terminating on 31st August. We have been very aware for many months that the agreement is not in the club's best interests but, to date, we have not had Plan B in place.
All hospitality and food operations have struggled to find reliable staff and we have at least managed to keep the bar operational albeit not on a regular basis by employing students and club volunteers. We are very pleased to advise that we have now secured a chef/steward to take up the reins from 1st September. He will be employed by the club which allows us to cater for the needs of our members.
BNP Paribas Summer Tournament
Already we are halfway through the tournament and have achieved a record 182 entries. We are delighted that this tournament is now very definitely on the tennis circuit with UK players already intending to come back again for the Easter Tournament. This is a great opportunity for our island players to compete against unknown players and gain experience in an LTA organised tournament. In order for our members to watch the finals and maybe be unable to come to the club during the day, it has been arranged that at least 3 finals will be played on Thursday evening at 6pm and also 3 finals at 1pm on Friday. Come along to view some great tennis.
To view the scheduling of the remaining matches go to the website www.tennissolutions.co.uk click on our link and further click on matches. The scheduling is reported for each day. Please also note that the presentation to the winners and runner-ups will take place on Friday at 4pm.
Release of courts - although we try to release courts it is not always possible and is very dependent on the weather. If it rains, as it did on Tuesday morning, we only could play on the atsro courts and indoor courts. Of course do come down on the off chance that a court, whether it be astro or hard, is available.
A reminder to parents of junior members, you would've all received an email (please check junk mail) regarding junior squads for the new term. They will begin again from the 12th Sept so if you haven't signed your children up yet, please can you do so before September. Any issues please email the office - email@example.com
We have already noticed during the tournament week that players are wearing the club hoodies. They do look very smart and are available to all our junior members. Have a look at the picture below. All are available from the office.
