Artificial Clay Courts It has been a long time coming, but this week we are pleased to announce the new Artificial Clay Courts are now open and available for use. Thank you all for your patience and we hope you enjoy the new surface. We plan to arrange an official opening day in the not-too-distant future. Thanks to the 1st Surface team for their hard work to complete the court despite the vagaries of international shipping and Jersey weather! There are a couple of minor items to complete the project, namely the delivery of the drag brushes, sand catchers, and court numbers. A couple of things to note when playing on the courts:
Please leave the courts as you would expect to find them
Courts must be brushed after each game:
Circular pattern starting outside the court and working your way into the centre
Pick up any loose debris, twigs, etc.
Allow 3-5 minutes at end of your timeslot so as not to impinge on the following booking
Clay court shoes are recommended
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask one of the coaches or committee members. Tennis League In order to celebrate our exciting new artificial clay courts, there is now a singles league, which we hope will encourage you to play more competitive tennis. This singles league is mixed, open to all members and will close on the 31st October 2023. The league is accessible via the same webpage on which members book courts: Caesarean Tennis Club - Court Booking System; you will also be able to upload your results on this page by clicking on the "Leagues" tab on the top of this page. Please do not take it personally if you feel we have placed you in the wrong division, our intention is to get members to play more competitive tennis and to play other members whom they might not have played before. The next league will be set up based on the results of this league, so players will eventually gravitate to a division which is a true reflection of their ability. If you are not included in the league but would like to take part, please let us know as soon as possible. So grab your racquet, enjoy our brand new courts and get back to enjoying a competitive game of singles. League Table and Rules Entro League Michelle Fielding will once again run the Entro League for this season- please read the below from Michelle: "Having only just had a very successful Entro Presentation Dinner, I can't believe that I am already sending out an email for the 2023/24 League.. I attach the Entry Form for the League. All entries must be in by 13th August at the latest as we hope to start the League on 1st September giving you plenty of time to arrange your matches !!!! As stated on the Form, there must be a minimum of four entries for each event to run, however, we will try and accommodate everyone and will contact you should it be necessary. Please spread the word with non Club tennis friends as the more the merrier! Although there is an option to send me the forms and pay by cheque, email and bank transfers would be preferable. Look forward to receiving all your entries!! Michelle Fielding" Entry Form Coffee Machine & Bar Opening
At long last, the coffee machine has arrived. Thank you all for your patience while we sorted out the best option for the Club. Instructions for how to use the machine are next to it in the bar, but the two most important things are…please do not let the water reservoir run dry and please do not pour liquid into the grill at the base of the machine as this is not connected to a drain but only has a small compartment for catching drips, etc. Prices are also located next to the machine. Payment is via a cashless, tap system using a debit card.
Louise Bracken-Smith
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of long-standing member, Louise Bracken-Smith. Louise had been fighting cancer for the past 2 years, bravely sharing her wisdom and personal experience via a podcast, Kicking Cancer Into Touch, which she started with her brother Kyran Bracken and was hosted by her eldest son Harvey. Deeply moving, yet full of hope. Louise will be missed both at the Club and throughout the Jersey community and beyond. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this distressing time
