Clay Courts, Practice Wall, Bar Update, Summer Tournament

Artificial Clay Courts We have received confirmation from the contractor, 1st Surface, they will be ready to start laying the playing surface from 3rd July. The work, which involves laying the carpet and infilling with ~40 tonnes of sand, is expected to take about two weeks. If everything goes to plan, the new courts should be ready for play IN mid-July. Following a mechanical problem with the kiln that ‘burns’ sand, the decision was taken to change to lighter-colour sand in order to have the courts in place for the summer tournament. We have taken delivery of the new nets and posts and did hope to use the tarmac surface in the interim, however, given the recent hot weather we were advised against this to avoid any damage to the soft surface. Thank you for your ongoing patience whilst the new courts are being prepared.

Practice Area A reminder the practice area behind Court 5 has been refurbished and is available for use by members.

The self-service coffee machine is expected to be operational from mid-July. This will provide members with tea and coffee facility when the bar is unattended. The committee would like to hear from any members who would be willing to volunteer behind the bar on a rota or ad-hoc basis. In particular to serve refreshments on weekday mornings. Upstairs Function Room If anyone is looking for a space for parties, meetings, etc, our upstairs function room is available for hire. Please get in touch with the office for more information.
